his is the fifth and final phase of the program. Under the direction of the Promotion and Sales Leader, your cookbook promotion and sales should start long before your books arrive. You will need to print the following to complete this phase.
Advance Sales Coupons
- With advance sales coupons, you can actually sell your cookbooks in advance. This will also give you an idea of how many books to order. Sell as many books by advance order as possible and keep track of these. When the cookbooks arrive, contact these people immediately and deliver their copy. Ask if they would like to buy more as gifts for friends. Don't miss even one chance for a sale!
Gift Certificates, Newspaper Releases, Sales Posters, and Ads
- There are many ways to pre-publicize your fundraising drive. We have included a sample news release that you can print and send to the paper, stating that you are collecting recipes and preparing your cookbook for print. A photo of your committee working on the recipes will help the sales, too. Put copies of a poster in as many places as possible. You can also prepare a newspaper ad with a clip coupon that people can use to order their cookbooks. Ask the local news editor to do a feature story on the cookbook project. Ask for free spots on radio and TV.
