TASK
To conduct an active cookbook promotion and sales campaign through the local community and surrounding areas.

Members Required:

All Phase Leaders, under the direction of the Promotion and Sales Phase Leader, along with every member of the organization.

SALES HINTS:

ADVANCE PROMOTION

2. Advance promotion of your cookbook will give you a feel for the number of cookbooks you can sell. Contact the newspaper to write a story using a photo of a planning committee working on the project.
3. Freight charges are added to the customer billing, with 67 days for the final payment.
3. Make a list of members and hand out 10 advance sales coupons to each one.
4. A list of those purchasing advance copies should be turned in to the Phase Leader.
5. Run a contest with members and award a prize to the person who has the highest number of advance sales.
6. When the recipes are submitted to Fundcraft, re-contact the newspaper for added news coverage, estimating when you expect your books to arrive.

SHIPMENT

7. When the cookbooks are shipped, the Chairperson will receive a shipping card. Extra free books are always sent to defray the cost of freight when sold for a minimum of $6.00 each.
8. When the cookbooks arrive, they should be checked and counted by all Phase Leaders and the Chairperson. Make sure no carton is damaged. If there is damage, tell the truck driver to note the damage on your receipt.

SALES TECHNIQUES

9. The community should be divided into sales areas, with a sales team assigned to each area.
10. Each member should be given a minimum of 20 books to sell, and all merchants should be asked to display and sell books in their stores.
11. Some groups let Boy & Girl Scouts help with sales for 50¢ per book.
12. When the cookbooks arrive, the local paper should run another article about the limited number of "one of a kind" personalized cookbooks your group has to offer.
13. Daily sales should be reported to the Phase Leader, money collected and deposited.
14. Every member should make a list of logical prospects, including friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Show each of them a copy of the book, pointing out the cover, full-color dividers, and other special features, and tell them how the profits will be used. You'll find these books will "sell themselves." It is so much fun making new friends and visiting old ones as you show them your personalized cookbook.
15. You can plan a tasting dinner featuring recipes from the book. This is a great opportunity to sell many cookbooks.
16. A scheduled dinner for the price of a book is always popular. Have the food donated by group members and charge the price of a cookbook for the dinner. The people not only get a good meal, but a keepsake cookbook.
17. If the cookbook supply starts running short before the end of the sales period, consider an inexpensive reprint.
18. Many organizations sell their cookbooks year-round, keeping a supply for continued sales.
